  • What types of donations do you accept at the Thrift Store & More?

    Atlanta Mission accepts gently used and new clothing, shoes, household goods, linens, decorative items, small kitchen appliances, books, media, electronics and furniture. We are unable to accept baby cribs, car seats, water beds, pianos, televisions and furniture with rips tears or stains.

  • Can I get a tax deduction for my donations?

    Yes, our Atlanta thrift stores are 501(c) 3 organizations, and all donations are tax-deductible. Receipts are available at each thrift store location for donations delivered during normal business hours.

  • Where can I take my donations?

    We can receive your donations at any of our locations. Click here for store hours and addresses. We also accept donations at the Atlanta Mission administrative office located at 2353 Bolton Road NW in Atlanta and at any Atlanta Mission facility, including The Shepherd’s Inn, Fuqua Hall, My Sister’s House and The Potter’s House.

  • How does thrift ministry help people?

    The thrift stores' proceeds help fund life-changing programming in Atlanta Mission facilities, including The Shepherd’s Inn, My Sister’s House, The Potter’s House and Fuqua Hall. Each location also serves as a ministry center in the local community where the store is located. We strive to operate as a ministry center and light in the community for our neighbors. Our stores have prayers boxes, and we pray with our staff, clients and customers on a daily basis. We also partner with local non-profits, churches and government agencies to meet the material needs of those who fall on hard times.

  • Do you need any day to day help in the stores?

    Absolutely. Our stores rely on the work of volunteers to reduce overhead costs for staff. Volunteers assist with a variety of duties from retail sales and store organization to special programs and events. Please call 678-420-0244 to volunteer individually, or as a group or family. When you become a volunteer with Atlanta Mission, you become a vital part of a ministry that touches the lives of those who are the most in need within your community.

  • Do you offer donation pick-ups?

    Yes! We offer free pick-ups for larger gifts; this usually includes furniture and multi-bag household items and clothing donations. For the Atlanta area, call 404-367-2289, and for northeast Georgia, call 706-354-5576.

  • Where are the profits of Thrift Store & More used to fund?

    Atlanta Mission and the thrift ministry are a 501(c) 3 organization. One hundred percent of the proceeds of each Atlanta Mission thrift store go directly to supporting the operations of the stores and Atlanta Mission’s programs, providing rescue services, recovery programming and re-entry assistance to individuals facing homelessness.

    As an example, in 2010, the thrift stores generated more than a half a million dollars for Atlanta Mission programs, which resulted in more than 908,700 meals served, 332,700 nights of shelter and more than 150 individuals transitioning back into the work force and independent living.
